Living London

London Photo Gallery from Chris Brauer

When considering life living in London I am equal parts Samuel Johnson ("bored of London, bored of life") and the Guardian's Lucy Magnan ("sit in a bathful of your own sweat and burn twenties"). But there is a quiet sensitivity to the city that is often underplayed. As life moves in a buzz, most of what you find comes later, like after the shutter clicks. London demands reflection.

Having lived in two other European Amsterdam and currently in Brussels. I have to say that I do miss London. Your neck of the woods, New Cross Gate, is where I grew up and my parents still live.

Most other European cities are cleaner and quieter but do not have the same level of diversity and buzz. I've never managed to wean myself off of the 24 hour lifestyle that is available in London.

It's whilst living abroad that you realise just how Americanised we are in London compared to most of Europe.

I'm not sure whether that is a good or bad thing.
